The Anti Terrorism Squad of Maharashtra police on Monday opposed the discharge applications of nine Muslim accused arrested in the 2006 Malegaon blasts case.
The commission filed an intervening application in a PIL filed by journalist Ashish Khetan seeking NIA investigation into the 7/11 serial train blasts and the 2006 Malegaon blasts.
The Centre has taken a serious view of allegations that nine Muslim youths were framed with malafide intentions.
In the wake of NIA filing charge sheet against four suspected members of right-wing groups for the 2006 Malegaon blasts, the Centre on Thursday promised to take necessary steps to stop harassment of innocent while tackling terror.
The explosions near a mosque on September 08, 2006 had killed 36 people and injured over 100.
