American researchers have demonstrated a laser-based imaging system that creates high-definition 3D maps of surfaces from as far away as 10.5 metres.
A new laser guided tool is helping geologists map in 3D exactly how earthquakes wreck landscapes, down to a few square inches of the devasted zone.
Once installed, people pick points on the globe and can see a street-level view.
