Three top activists who spearheaded the 2011 revolution that toppled Egyptian Hosni Mubarak were sentenced to 3 years in jail for organising illegal demonstration, under new controversial protest law.
An Egyptian prosecutor ordered on Monday the detention of a prominent secular activist for taking part in an unauthorised protest, just a day after he was freed over a similar case, state media reported.
A leading secular activist, Alaa Abdel Fatah, was arrested on Thursday, his wife said, after having been accused of inciting protests in violation of a controversial new law.
