Algerian special forces on Saturday stormed a natural gas complex in the middle of the Sahara desert in a "final assault" that ended a four-day-old hostage crisis, according to the state news agency and two foreign governments.
Around 650 hostages detained by an armed group at a gas field in Algeria have been freed, the official APS news agency reported.
The Algerian Army on Thursday surrounded a natural gas complex where Islamist militants have taken dozens of people as hostage.
