The CPI said that Cong prez Sonia Gandhi`s reported statement that West Bengal was among the most backward states was an `insult` to the
people of the state and blamed Cong-led govt at the Centre for price rise and corruption.
It will be a "tough fight" between the
Left Front and the Trinamool Congress in this month`s assembly
polls in West Bengal while in Kerala the CPI(M)-led Left
Democratic Front (LDF) had an "edge" over the Congress-led UDF.
Alleging that the nation`s
wealth has been plundered in organising the Commonwealth
Games, CPI general secretary A B Bardhan today said that those
involved in the "looting" should be tried and punished.
