Over 12 lakh people have been affected in floods in 16 districts of Assam. Many rivers, including the mighty Brahmaputra and its tributaries, continue to flow above the danger level, the authorities said on Wednesday.
Inland Water Transport (IWT) department has temporarily suspended plying of any boat, both mechanised or manual, on Brahmaputra from today due to the rising of water level of the river in Assam capital.
