Delhi government`s decision to order filing of an FIR against Petroleum Minister M Veerappa Moily, former minister Murli Deora and RIL chief Mukesh Ambani for alleged collusion to hike the prices of natural gas has invited sharp criticism from Samajwadi Party even as CPI`s Gurudas Dasgupta welcomed the move.
Delhi`s AAP government on Wednesday moved the Supreme Court challenging Centre`s CNG gas distribution policy, saying it deprived the national capital of the natural resource leading to increase in its price.
BJP demanded a immediate roll back in the prices of cooking gas, CNG and water tariff effected in Delhi, contending the policy decisions of Congress-supported AAP government in the national capital would give rise to inflation.
Gujarat High Court on Saturday directed the Central government to comply with its order to provide Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) to Gujarat at the same price as Delhi and Mumbai under the `Administered Price Mechanism`.
In a far-reaching decision, the
government today raised natural gas prices by more than double
to USD 4.20 per mmBtu, a move that will result in a rise in
power and fertilizer production cost and rise in CNG rates.
Indraprastha Gas Ltd, the sole
supplier of CNG to automobiles in the National Capital, on Wednesday
said price of compressed natural gas will go up by Rs 1.08 per
kg from April 1 due to levy of VAT by the Delhi government.
