An anti-tank mine exploded under a truck in western Cambodia killing all 14 people aboard.
A major chunk of agriculture land along LoC which was left abandoned following mine laying activity during Kargil war and Operation Parakram, has been
de-mined by the Army.
Describing as challenging the task of removing mines for speedy resettlement of Tamil refugees, Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa on Thursday said these explosives would have to be cleared from the North.
Sri Lanka has been pledged USD 5 million by the UN refugee agency to speed up de-mining operations in the North to pave the way for faster resettlement of displaced Tamils.
