Assam man sets himself ablaze demanding land rights

A man set himself ablaze outside the Assam capital complex in Dispur Monday protesting the state`s refusal to give land pattas (deeds) to people.

the city, police said on Sunday.

Dispur violence: Assam govt for magisterial probe

The Assam government on Saturday
ordered a magisterial inquiry into the violent incident of
June 22 at Dispur in which three persons were killed and over
50 injured, official sources said.
