The Assam health department has undertaken intensive measures to halt the spread of Japanese Encephalitis and Acute Encephalitis Syndrome (AES) in the state which have claimed 252 lives.
Rattled by the encephalitis outbreak in the northern part of the state, the West Bengal government Saturday said it would seek the central government`s help for vaccination of adults to prevent the disease from spreading.
With one more child succumbing to encephalitis, the death toll in the viral disease has mounted to 588 in eastern Uttar Pradesh this year.
Five more persons died due to encephalitis, taking the death toll in the viral disease in eastern UP to 151 this year, health officials said.
