The Indian and Sri Lankan Coast Guards have agreed to work for the speedy release of fishermen arrested for violating the maritime boundary, the government said Friday.
DMK chief M Karunanidhi Tuesday asked the Centre and Tamil Nadu government to immediately bring the issue of Indian fishermen to the notice of the Sri Lankan government and resolve the matter.
Angry members from DMK, a key constituent of the ruling UPA, today targeted the government in Parliament over frequent arrests of Indian fishermen by Sri Lankan Navy.
