A man, accused of selling a girl to a brothel here after abducting her, has been sentenced to ten years in jail by a Delhi court which also awarded three years imprisonment to a woman for running prostitution business.
With the arrest of four persons, police on Saturday claimed to have busted a gang allegedly being operated by an advocate and his wife in neighbouring Navi Mumbai, which abducts minor girls in a bid to push them into flesh trade.
Expressing concern over the trafficking of girls for prostitution, the Supreme Court on Thursday said the practice of arresting them on the charge of indulging in flesh trade should stop as instead of being accused many of them are the victims of the social malady.
A man has been sent to jail for 10 years for gang-raping a 19-year-old girl by a Delhi court which also convicted and awarded seven years imprisonment to two women for kidnapping and forcing the victim into prostitution.
