Bad weather and heavy rainfall is hampering the relief and rescue work in parts of Bihar which was the worst hit with the powerful earthquake that jolted Nepal's capital Kathmandu and rendered several dead and thousands injured.
The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) today sounded an alert in Meghalaya and neighbouring states in the northeastern region that heavy to very heavy rainfall would occur at isolated places in these states.
Heavy rainfall coupled with gusty surface wind is likely to lash some places of interior and coastal Odisha till Saturday due to a low pressure which triggered rains in several areas during last couple of days.
Heavy downpour is likely to pound some places in south Odisha while rain and thundershower would continue in many parts of the state till Thursday due to a low pressure area, the MeT office said on Wednesday.
The flood-devastated Uttarakhand on Wednesday witnessed heavy rainfall in several regions affecting the relief and rehabilitation work being carried out by various central and the state agencies in the Himalayan state.
