If the plains of northern India are shivering and dense fog is spoiling New Year celebrations, head for the hills of Himachal Pradesh. There will be a lot of relief as the long sunny days have rendered the hills unusually warm.
Rains have abated in Himachal Pradesh after battering the state for four days, triggering landslides and snapping road links in many areas, officials here said Wednesday.
The hills of Himachal Pradesh had marginal relief from piercing cold wave conditions, which abated due to rise of two to four degrees Celsius in maximum day temperatures.
Cold wave conditions continued unabated in most parts of Himachal Pradesh as minimum temperatures in higher parts of the state stayed between minus 13 and minus 23 degree Celsius.
Most prominent tourist towns like Shimla, Kufri, Dalhousie and Manali are likely to see light to moderate spells of snowfall.
