Gujarat HC on Thursday approved the plea of special investigating team (SIT), probing the 2004 police encounter of Ishrat Jahan, seeking copy of Judicial Magistrate Tamang`s report which had concluded that the encounter was fake.
The Gujarat High Court today
directed the state government to get the view of Special
Investigation Team (SIT) probing some 2002 riot cases, if it
was willing to take up probe in Ishrat Jahan encounter case.
A petition was filed in
Gujarat HC seeking review of its order of
transferring the investigation into the killing of Ishrat
Jahan in an alleged fake police encounter to SIT probing some of the 2002 riot cases.
SC expressed surprise over the decision of the Gujarat HC handing
over the investigations into the killing of alleged LeT operative Ishrat Jahan in an alleged fake encounter with
police to the apex Court-appointed SIT.
