A Kashmiri Pandit died when some assailants allegedly beat him after he tried to save his son from being abducted by them in Jagti town here, triggering protests by locals in the area, police said on Monday.
Reeling under acute power crisis and poor financial conditions, the Kashimiri Pandits (KP) have demanded from the state government free electricity to Jagti township.
Union Home Minister P Chidambaram on Wednesday visited a satellite township in Jammu being constructed for Kashmiri Pandit migrants and asked officials to get the township ready at the earliest.
