Fighting legal battle in courts has become so expensive that it has gone beyond the reach of a poor man, the Supreme Court has said while expressing concern over the legal profession getting commercialised.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa on Tuesday said increasing cost of litigation and marginalized sections` ability to avail their constitutional right to legal remedies was seriously hampered by their lack of resources.
Holding that litigation was not
like buying a lottery ticket for manipulators and speculators,
the SC has imposed a fine of Rs two lakh each on two persons for fradulently grabbing two pieces of govt
land in UP`s Ghaziabad.
"Justice delayed is justice denied", noted Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Saturday, urging the government, the judiciary and lawyers to work together to make litigation affordable and reduce the mounting court cases.
