A deal to end South Africa`s longest mining strike has been reached in "principle" between three platinum-producing companies and leaders of a union representing tens of thousands of miners, the companies said today.
The striking miners gave working colleagues a deadline of 1 pm local time to leave the Karee mine, or face deadly retribution.
The National Prosecuting Authority said that it would lay murder charges against the miners once all investigations into the matter are completed.
