More than 300 farmers of the draught-affected areas of Vidarbha region staged a protest in Yavatmal district demanding the state government to take steps to provide relief to farmers.
As many as 3,664 villages and 9,095 hamlets in the state are being supplied water by tankers, the Maha cabinet was informed on Wednesday.
Maharashtra Deputy CM Ajit Pawar on Wednesday said the priority was given to allocation of water for drinking as per the government policy.
Ajit Pawar derided protest by a farmer who was demanding release of water for his dry field, saying that should people urinate in dams for fill it.
