Review: Vidya, Kolkata in a never-seen-before avatar in ‘Kahaani’

When the going gets tough, the tough get going. That seems to be the underlying theme of Sujoy Ghosh’s ‘Kahaani’.

'Kya Super Kool Hai Hum' Review: Sheer absence of entertainment!

Sachin Yardi, the writer and director of ‘Kya Super Kool Hai Hum’ collated a bunch of such jokes, packed a few actors and crew, flew to Goa and decided to party…oh and also made a film in between partying.

Movie Review: ‘Rowdy Rathore’ hits you hard!

`Rowdy Rathore` was supposed to be Akshay`s comeback film as an action star. Yes, the action is there and in huge dollops. But somehow it lacks the punch of Khiladi Kumar.

Review 'Ishaqzaade': Almore haramzaade shine steadily!

Habib Faisal’s earlier film ‘Do Dooni Chaar’ had captured the Delhi and Punjabi culture well. In ‘Ishaqzaade’, he captures a small town in northern India and its typical nuances well.

`Kamaal Dhamaal Malamaal` is a far cry from the cults which Priyadarshan has delivered in the past.

Review: `Srimannarayana` is all style, no substance

Balakrishna is back with what he`s best at doing - playing a never-aging hero, with two heroines by his side, and lots of bad guys to kick.

‘The Expendables 2' Review: An adrenaline pumping action ride

First things first, ‘The Expendables 2’ is far more thrilling, testosterone dripping and high on action than its prequel ‘The Expendables’. The earlier version evoked a massive interest among action buffs for its sheer line-up of the legends, but the film failed to impress, and hence the expectation from the sequel was not much. But the second part – once you come out of the theatre watching it – will sure leave you with the taste of gun-powder in your mouth.

Review: ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’ is mother of all revenge dramas

Stories of gang wars and mafias have been churned out by Bollywood at frequent intervals, but Anurag Kashyap here, truly deserves a standing ovation for presenting a masterpiece with his new release ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’. Exposing the dark underbelly of small-town India, which was unexplored till now, Kashyap’s GOW is a mother of all revenge drama. Something that you may have not seen in the recent past.

‘Rock of Ages’ is a fair depiction of the bygone era yet fails to make that required impact.

Review: ‘Department’ is a sheer waste of talented actors!

If you’d thought ‘Phoonk’ and ‘Aag’ were the worst of films to have come out of the Ram Gopal Varma camp, it’s time you rethought about it.

All through ‘Jannat 2’, it seems as if Nicolas Cage’s ‘Lord of War’ is present somewhere in the background.

‘Hate Story’ review: No erotic thriller!

Yes you read it right. As much as the PR agency of the film would like us to believe, Vivek Agnihotri’s ‘Hate Story’ falls miserably short of being called an erotic thriller. The film is a revenge saga and to put it simply lacks logic.

If the trailers had made you wonder that this would be the next ‘Band Baaja Baarat’, you were grossly mistaken. And so were most other people.

Review: ‘Hunger Games’ captivates you!

Making a film on a best seller is never easy. The expectations are high and in most cases the film never matches up to the reader’s imagination. This week’s other release ‘Hunger Games’ is based on a book of the same name written by Suzanne Collins.

Review: ‘Chaar Din Ki Chandni’ is a lukewarm comedy!

Director Samir Karnik’s attempt at a comedy of errors turns out to be tepid, and lacks the laughing-out-loud element. For a comedy, that is nothing short of fatal. Short-lived entertainment is all that the film offers to the viewer.

Tigmanshu Dhulia does it again. After a gritty ‘Saheb, Biwi aur Gangster’, Dhulia delivers yet another poignant film about a real life athlete from the heartland of Chambal who eventually becomes a dreaded dacoit.
