Improved co-ordination of some 15 national and state security agencies as well as continuous coastal surveillance have led to a much stronger maritime security, authorities said Wednesday, a day on which six years ago the Mumbai terror attack took place.
A day after two Indian officers on INS Sindhuratna submarine lost their lives in an accident, a confidential report by Defence Ministry has reportedly revealed that it had already warned the Prime Minister`s Office (PMO) about the poor conditions of several submarines.
The oil leak that created a
mile-long slick some 80 km off the Mumbai Coast this morning
has been brought under control and the spill is likely to
disperse within 48 hours, state-owned Oil and Natural Gas
Corp (ONGC) said.
