Number of HIV infections in India will increase if the National AIDS Control Organisation (NACO) is closed and its activities merged with the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM), activists and experts said Monday.
The National Rural Health Mission (NRHM), which aims to provide affordable and quality health care to the rural population, needs to be decentralised. It also requires greater incentives, Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI) president K. Srinath Reddy said Tuesday.
Newborn care units across the country are being scaled up under the National Rural Health Mission in association with UNICEF to address monitoring gaps in the quality of service at these facilities, an official said Tuesday.
