World number one Nicol David secured a record-equalling fifth World Open title by beating Egypt`s Omneya Abdel Kawy 11-5, 11-6, 11-8 at the Red Sea resort of Sharm El Sheikh on Wednesday.
Nicol David moved to within one win of equalling the record of five World Open titles when she quelled the challenge of England`s Alison Waters in straight games.
Nicol David reserved her finest performance so far for her Malaysian compatriot as she swept Low Wee Wern aside in only 27 minutes to reach the World Open semi-final.
World number one Nicol David of Malaysia will be seen in action in the WISPA World Tour Chennai Open Squash tournament to be played here from March 2 to 7.
