Eight years after CBI filed the charge sheet in a case relating to leakage of information from Naval war room, a court on Thursday framed charges against Ravi Shankaran, Abhishek Varma and four other former senior defence officials under Official Secrets Act (OSA).
In a major blow to India`s bid for the extradition of Ravi Shankaran, key accused in the infamous Naval War Room leak case, a top British court has rejected the demand and ordered the CBI to pay over Rs one crore to him as legal costs.
The 48-year-old Shankaran, a relative of former Navy chief Admiral Arun Prakash, had listed denial of bail in India among the reasons for opposing his extradition to this country, CBI sources said today.
