Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat on Tuesday demanded an additional package of Rs 4000 crore from the new NDA government for rehabilitation and reconstruction work in the hill state, saying the Rs 8000 crore sanctioned for the purpose by UPA II was not enough.
With cyclone `Phailin` leaving a trail of destruction in coastal Odisha, Centre on Monday acted swiftly, announcing "flexibility" in its various programmes for reconstructing houses and roads there and asked the state government to send proposals as soon as possible.
