India has renewed its pitch for a "larger and wider" role in Shanghai Cooperation Organisation, saying it was keen to deepen security-related cooperation with the six-nation grouping.
Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) has no plans to replace NATO in Afghanistan following planned withdrawal of block`s troops from that country, Russia`s envoy to the SCO Kirill Barsky said.
China and Afghanistan also agreed to intensify cooperation to prevent diseases and natural disasters.
India pitched for a "larger and more constructive role" in the six-nation Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) as a full member.
The declaration came hours before Annan is scheduled to present his latest assessment of the Syrian conflict at an open meeting of the UN General Assembly.
The SCO is a regional security grouping that comprises Russia, China, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan.
The Shanghai Cooperation Organization has also decided to accept Turkey as a dialogue partner, Chinese President Hu Jintao said.
Chinese President Hu Jintao said the SCO member states have broad consensus on major international and regional affairs.
Russian President Vladimir Putin said all Shanghai Cooperation Organization member countries should note the need to fight the drug threat.
The SCO currently has six full members -- China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
The National College Entrance Examinations is regarded as a destiny-shaping event for high schoolers in China.
Pakistan, along with India, Iran and Mongolia, are currently observers at Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
Founded in 2001, the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation includes China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
China said much of the defence budget would go for increased salaries of soldiers, training and exercises.

boosting the security in Asia, India has re-affirmed its
commitment with the regional grouping of which it aspires to
be a member.
The conflict in Afghanistan and
expanding its membership to include Iran and Pakistan are key
issues facing the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation in the
coming year, its new head said.
