With the Kerala Assembly witnessing its lowest ever sittings last year, Speaker G Karthikeyan Friday expressed hope that the next session, starting Monday, would have more sittings as all parties agreed to cooperate.
According to figures collated by PRS Legislative Research, an independent think tank, in the 1950s the Lok Sabha met for an average of 127 days every year and the Rajya Sabha for 93 days.
The Uttarakhand Assembly has failed to conduct even 30 sittings a year against the required 60 sittings as stated in the house`s rule book, a report said.
Members in Rajya Sabha on Friday supported a private member`s bill that proposed to fix a minimum number of sittings of Parliament.
