The urban population in Bihar has
increased to 11.30 percent of the estimated total population
of 10.38 crore in the state but the sex ratio has dropped to
916 females per 1000 males in the past decade.
: India`s urban population will more than double to over 600 million by 2035 as increasing number of people migrate to cities because of better infrastructure and employment opportunities, finance minister Pranab Mukherjee said.
About 45 percent of the country`s population will be residing in urban cities and towns by 2050, up from 30 percent now, nullifying the `India lives in villages` concept, says a study by thinktank NCAER.
