The Supreme Court Tuesday cancelled the bail plea of B Ramaliga Raju and five others in the Satyam fraud case. The former estranged chief of Satyam Computer Services will now have to surrender to the police by November 8.
In another controversy emanating from the Commonwealth Games, it was alleged that the chief coach for the Games, under the Badminton Association of India, was biased and was not choosing players on merit.
The Sport Ministry on Wednesday issued a
showcause notice to the Badminton Association of India (BAI)
asking it to explain within 14 days as to why the government
should not derecognise the federation.
Apprehensive of the ongoing stand-off between Badminton Association of India and the Sports Ministry, some of the former players asked BAI to exercise caution and make sure that the shuttlers are not victimised.
