The NDA government is likely to finalise the names of seven Governors to be appointed in the seven states who were asked to step down as they were appointed by the former Congress government, as per news reports.
The President of India Pranab Mukherjee on Monday accepted the resignation of BV Wanchoo who resigned as Governor of Goa on Friday. Rajasthan Governor Margaret Alva took additional charge as the Governor of Goa.
The NDA government on Sunday transferred Gujarat Governor Kamla Beniwal, who had a bitter relation with the then state chief minister Narendra Modi, to Mizoram, while Rajasthan Governor Margaret Alva was given additional responsibility to discharge the functions of Gujarat Governor as well, sources at Rashtrapati Bhavan said.
