Coal India April-December output at 342.39 MT; misses target by 3%

Coal India, the world's largest miner of dry fuel, recorded an output of 342.39 million tonnes (MT) in April-December 2014, missing its production target by 3 percent for the period.

State-owned Coal India Ltd (CIL), which may miss coal output target this fiscal, is pitching for doing away with the system of setting the annual production target for the PSU.

10% production growth in Q4 must to meet target: CIL

In order to meet coal production target of 464 million tonne in the current fiscal, state-owned Coal India Ltd will have to clock a 10 percent growth during the January-March quarter, CIL chairman S Narsingh Rao said here on Wednesday.
