The FARC and the Colombian government agreed Wednesday to resume peace talks that stalled over the kidnap of an army general, according to Cuba and Norway, the two countries shepherding the peace process.
The Colombian government has deployed 700 additional security force members to the Pacific port city of Buenaventura, which has been plagued by killings, dismemberments and forced disappearances.
Peace talks between the Colombian government and the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, or FARC, guerrilla group will officially begin on Oct 17 in Oslo.
A patrol was attacked by the "terrorists" of the FARC as
it guarded a stretch road near the city of Pretoria.
