Dai Bingguo, China`s long standing negotiator of Sino-India boundary dispute, retired on Saturday as the new administration headed by President Xi Jinping took over power.
The state-run media said that China and India faced many "practical difficulties and challenges" in improving their ties.
Contentious boundary issue and ways to boost bilateral ties were among the issues which figured during discussions.
