Bengal government may bid for taking over Dunlop India

The West Bengal government Friday said it may participate in the bidding process to acquire Dunlop India in the interest of workers after studying yesterday's Calcutta high court order, which directed the ailing tyre manufacturing company be wound up.

High Court orders winding up of Dunlop India

The Calcutta High Court on Thursday ordered winding up of tyre manufacturing company Dunlop India Limited, which had set up its first factory at Sahaganj near here in 1936.

Dunlop has no immediate plan to reopen Bengal plant

Operations at the factory in Hooghly district had remained suspended from October, 2011, despite several tripartite meetings among the representatives of the company, unions and the government.
