The East Central Railway (ECR) has decided to cancel running of 28 passenger trains under its five divisions in Bihar and Jharkhand for a week starting tomorrow fearing disruption during Foundation Day celebrations of the banned Maoists during the period, reports stated on Saturday.
A man and his nephew were killed when a goods train ran over them near Rajhara station in Palamau district under Dhanbad division of East Central Railway on Monday, Government Railway Police sources said.
Almost every protest in Bihar seems to be affecting railway property resulting in huge losses to the nation. In the process, as many as 2,374 train services were affected in the last six months, officials say.
The East Central Railway opened helplines in Darbhanga, Muzaffapur and Hajipur to provide information about the passengers travelling by Darbhanga-LTT (Mumbai) Express, six bogies of which derailed early on Saturday.
