The Telangana government tonight endorsed the farm loan waiver plan, a key poll promise of TRS, which would cost about Rs 19,000 crores.

The government on Thursday slashed the
interest subsidy given to farmers on crop loans by one
percentage point to two per cent for this fiscal, a move that
is expected to bring down burden on the Central exchequer by
Rs 311 crore.
The Congress on Tuesday downplayed the
claim that President Pratibha Patil was behind the
government`s ambitious farm loan waiver scheme, saying inputs
for it had come from diverse quarters.
