The 2nd day of the Monsoon Session of Parliament is set to witness a fierce debate on the UPA govt`s ambitious Food Security Ordinance, which is being projected as a game changer for nearly 67% of the country`s total population.
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Saturday expressed hope that the monsoon session of parliament, starting Aug 5, would be "constructive and productive" and sought cooperation of all political parties for this.
Flaying Centre for "unilaterally" and "hastily" promulgating the National Food Security Ordinance 2013, J Jayalalithaa urged Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to replace the ordinance with a Bill which addresses the state`s concerns.
The national food security ordinance is aimed at removing hunger and malnutrition and not to reap any political benefit out of it, union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister M Veerappa Moily said Friday.
