Brazil’s star striker Neymar suffered a fracture in the vertebra on the left side in the dying moments of their match against Colombia which they won 2-1. But now, according to the medical department of the Brazilian team, Neymar will not play in the World Cup any more.

With much suffering and some contribution from referee Yuichi Nishimura, the Brazilian team beat Croatia 3-1 in the opening game of the World Cup at the Itaquerão stadium here on Thursday. Neymar scored the first two goals, while Oscar slotted in the third. The first goal was a low shot from about 22 yards. The second one came in a penalty kick given by match-referee Nishimura who had denied Brazil a penalty in the quarter final of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
Neymar wasted little time in living up to his billing as Brazil`s World Cup spearhead when he scored twice to lead the host nation to a 3-1 comeback victory over Croatia in a terrific opening game of the tournament on Thursday.
