India today offered assistance to Sri Lanka to help hundreds of people affected by the landslide in Uva province of that country.
The new Indian government is likely to ask Sri Lanka to issue commercial licences to its fishermen to operate around the northern Kachchativu islet, a media report said today ahead of External Affairs Minister G L Peiris` visit to New Delhi.
India conveyed its "deep concern" over killing of its fishermen allegedly by Sri Lankan Navy as External Affairs Minister S M Krishna met his Lankan counterpart G L Peiris.
