After failed attempts to attract private investors for the Ganga Expressway project along the banks of the river, a government agency has now been roped in to construct it.
Cash-strapped Delhi Govt has been asked to pay Rs 100 crore by Uttar Pradesh to make the Upper Ganga expressway elevated on a stretch near Bhagirathi through which major pipelines supplying water to the national capital pass.
The Allahabad High Court today
ordered the UP government to halt all construction work
relating to the proposed Ganga Expressway, connecting eastern
and western borders of the state.
Senior BJP leader and Rajya Sabha
member Kalraj Mishra on Tuesday said he would undertake a
`padyatra` from Ballia to Noida to raise awareness among
farmers against the proposed Ganga Expressway.
