Cold wave conditions revived in mid and higher hills of Himachal Pradesh as several areas of the state were lashed by thunderstorm, accompanied by rains causing sharp fall in mercury.
Drop in the mercury on Sunday brought the minimum temperature to below the 10 degree Celsius mark for the first time since the onset of winter in the capital.
The tribal areas and other higher hills of Himachal reeled under bone chilling cold conditions as mercury stayed several notches below the freezing point while day temperatures rose by few degrees across the state.
Minimum temperatures in various parts of north India went up by several notches except Himachal, where it continued to remain below normal in most places.

A cold wave continued to
affect normal life in parts of Rajasthan where the mercury
plummeted sharply, with Churu in the planes being the coldest
place at 1.9 degee Celsius.
Cold conditions intensified in
most parts of the northern region today as mercury dipped by
several notches with Leh in Jammu and Kashmir freezing at
minus 16 degrees.
Mercury dipped further in several parts of N India today, with Leh in J-K freezing at a low of -18.2 C while Delhi recorded the season`s lowest.
Mercury dipped by a few notches
in several parts of the north India as a woman succumbed to
the chilly weather in Jammu and Kashmir where higher reaches
continued to reel under intense cold.
The mercury further dipped in the
Ladakh region of Jammu and Kashmir even as the rest of the
state had almost normal temperature today, Met office said.
