Russian aircraft maker MiG has delivered four MiG-29K/KUB ship-borne fighters to the Indian Navy under a contract concluded in 2010, the company said.
Russian makers of MiG aircraft will
hand over remaining five MiG-29K/KUB carrier-based fighters to
the Indian Navy by the end of this year.
The sophisticated Russian-made MiG-29K maritime fighter aircraft were inducted in the Navy.
The Indian Navy will Friday induct its first four Russian-built MiG-29K combat jets that will be deployed on the aircraft carrier Admiral Gorshkov, rechristened INS Vikramaditya.
India is likely to ink a deal to purchase an additional 29 MiG-29K fighter jets, valued close to USD 1.12 billion, from Russia during the visit of Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin in March.
