Diwali fails to light up D-St, Sensex closes at 1-week low of 18,619

The first trading session of Samvat 2069 concluded on a weak note as Sensex on Tuesday closed nearly 52 points lower at over one-week low of 18,618.87, the first time since 2007 the BSE benchmark logged losses in Muhurat trades.

Markets start Samvat 2069 on a lacklustre note

After lifting the Sensex nearly 60 points to 18,732.71 at the outset, the momentum quickly evaporated on profit selling and weak global market trends. The 30-share Sensex closed 51.47 points, or 0.28 percent, lower at 18,618.87.

Markets to open for 'Muhurat' trading Tuesday

The Muhurat trading will be conducted from 3.45 p.m. to 5 p.m. The pre-open order entry will start at 3.30 p.m.
