The day is not far when Chhattisgarh will become "Naxal-free", thanks to the joint efforts of state government and Centre in wiping out the Maoist menace, Chief Minister Raman Singh said on Sunday.
The Centre on Monday claimed that the Maoist extremists were focusing to set up bases in upper Assam, close to international border and this could create a "serious strategic security complication" to northeastern states.
A former member of the National Security Advisory Board has said that the Armed Forces Special Power Act should be amended to stop harassment to the people.
National Security Advisory Board Chairman Naresh Chandra on Monday said borders in the north east should be sealed intelligently in view of the improving relations with neighbouring countries.
