In a morale booster to Uttar
Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati`s pet project, the Supreme
Court on Friday upheld environmental compatibility of the Noida
park scheme, also being developed into a memorial for Dalit
icon B R Ambedkar and her political mentor late Kanshi Ram.
SC on Thursday wanted to know from the Centre the conditions required to be fulfiled by Uttar Pradesh government for getting clearance of the project relating to construction of statues and memorials for Dalit leaders.
The Centre today sought some time
from the Supreme Court to examine environmental impact reports
prepared by UP govt in connection with the
construction of statues and memorials for Dalit leaders at a
park in Noida.
The SC on Thursday directed
the Centre to examine the environmental impact caused by the felling of around 6000 trees at a Park in Noida used by
Mayawati government for construction of statues and memorials
of Dalit leaders.
