Heavy rains have been lashing Odisha since last night under the impact of two low pressure areas over south-east Rajasthan and its neighbourhood area and another over Saurashtra and Kutch and adjoining north eastern part of the Arabian Sea.
Western Odisha continued to reel under heat wave conditions Saturday, with a town in the region recording a maximum of 42.4 degrees Celsius, the highest for the day in the state, an official said.
Incessant rain has thrown life out of gear in parts of Odisha, disrupting road traffic and causing damage to paddy crop in some areas.
Severe heatwave conditions continued in several parts of Odisha with the death toll due to sunstroke this summer rising to 32.
While Odisha felt some tremors in the wake of the massive Indonesian quake, it is also likely to face tumultuous weather.
