Pakistan to release 57 Indian fishing boats in mid-September

Pakistan on Monday said it will release 57 fishing boats seized from 150 Indian fishermen, who were set free in May as a goodwill gesture.

Gujarat fishermen, who have made several representations to the state and Centre over periodic abduction of their fisher-folk and seizure of boats by Pakistan Maritime Security Agency, have again approached Chief Minister Narendra Modi urging him take up the issue with the government.

The ICG has secured the release of 72 Indian fishermen from the custody of PMSA, which had held them in the Arabian Sea off Jakhau coast since Friday.
