A stampede-like situation prevailed at a Tusu mela, a major festival of tribals in Jharkhand on Monday when police fired several shots in the air following an altercation in Jadugora today.
Two separate incidents of
exchange of fire between Naxals and police took place in the
district on Sunday, police said. However, no one was injured.
Police resorted to
lathicharge and fired in the air today to disperse
anti-dam protesters on the border of
Lakhimpur-Dhemaji districts in Assam.
Three policemen, including the SHO Mitesh Kumar, were injured in the attack.
The police on Tuesday fired four
rounds in air after a mob of tribals pelted stones on the
police station located at Ghoghamba village, about 100 kms
from here, police said.
Ajmal was scheduled to address a meeting at Telipara
under Gossaigaon sub-division this afternoon but his
helicopter could not land due to technical problem.
