After the inauguration of second unit of the 726 MW gas-based thermal power project by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Palatana in Gomati district on Monday, another power plant at Monarchak in Sipahijala district of Tripura would start generation in January.
The Centre will allocate a coal mine with 400 million tonne capacity for a plant in Uttar Pradesh by February and sanction Rs 500 crore to the state within a month to upgrade the distribution network, Coal and Power Minister Piyush Goyal said on Wednesday.
