Kenya Red Cross Society (KRCS) said Tuesday it has launched a tracing hotline to help identify 50 villagers who are missing following the attacks that left over 60 people killed in the coastal region. KRCS Director of External Relations and Mobilisation Jacqueline Waita said a total of 59 missing cases were reported by the end of Monday of which were closed positively and 52 cases still pending.
Relief operations were badly hit by a fresh spell of rain at most places in Uttarakhand, including Rudraprayag, Chamoli and Uttarkhashi districts, with choppers carrying relief material not flying due to low visibility conditions.
Kerala Government would submit a revised memorandum to the Centre seeking additional assistance over and above the Rs 7,900 crore sought by it for undertaking drought relief works, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said today.
